WHAT: An international expert on technology transfer will visit the University as part of the Farash Entrepreneur-in-Residence Exchange, a faculty exchange program sponsored by the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation.
WHO: Dr. Yoav Medan, visiting scientist at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, founder of Haifa3D and former VP and chief systems architect of InSightec Ltd.
WHEN: Dr. Medan will be in Rochester from Sep. 15-26 meeting with faculty from across the University, addressing students and will also give a presentation on "The University, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship" on Wednesday, Sep. 18 in the evening at the Genesee Valley Club.

About Dr. Yoav Medan:
As a scientist, inventor and educator, Dr. Yoav Medan is well equipped to discuss how universities are building community and economic development through technology transfer. He is the former chief systems architect at InSightec Ltd. in Israel, where he worked on MRI-guided focused ultrasound technology. Before that, he spent 17 years in research and management at the IBM Research Division and was elected to the IBM Academy of Technology. Medan has taught in the electrical engineering department at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, in addition to serving as a lecturer for Avionic Systems at the Aeronautical Engineering faculty, and a mentor to young entrepreneurs as part of the Technion Alumni "Technion for Life" program. He is the founder of Haifa3D, a non-profit organization aimed at creating awareness to and acquiring skills in 3D digital creation of physical objects using 3D printing. In addition to currently serving on multiple advisory boards, he is also a visiting scientist at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. With his research team, Medan is developing a tool for incision-less surgery via focused ultrasound.
