Biography
Hein Goemans is an expert on international conflict, in particular on why and when wars end. He is currently exploring why, when and which leaders initiate international conflict. He also studies when and why people become attached to specific pieces of territory which together constitute a 'homeland' and the consequences of such attachments for international conflict. His book War and Punishment was published by Princeton University Press (2000).
