Biography
He was the founding director of the Center for Electronic Imaging Systems, funded in part by the National Science Foundation under the S/IUCRC program, and also of the highly rated ARO-URI Center for Opto-Electronic Systems Research. Prior to this, he was director of The Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester for more than four years. Previously he was a professor of applied physics and electrical engineering at the California Institute of Technology.
