Biography
Professor Rubel specializes in American religious history; American Judaism; ultra-Orthodox Judaism in America; African American religion; religion and foodways; ethnicity and immigration; new religious movements; Judaism and gender; Jewish-American literature; Black-Jewish relations; religion and popular culture. Her new book is entitled Doubting the Devout: The Ultra-Orthodox in the Jewish American Imagination (Columbia University Press).
