University and Wall\Therapy
Founded in 2012, Wall\Therapy is "an art and community intervention project, using public murals as a means to transform the urban landscape, inspire, and build community." The University of Rochester has sponsored five projects by Wall\Therapy artists, with a sixth in progress at the Memorial Art Gallery in Spring 2016.
Wall\Therapy was founded by Ian Wilson, ‘99(MD), an assistant professor in the Department of Imaging Sciences at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, as a way to inspire individuals to take pride in themselves and connect with their neighborhoods. To date, there are more than 100 murals throughout the Rochester area by internationally acclaimed and local artists.
