With gleaming Oscar in tow, director Michael Moore
addressed a sellout crowd in Strong Auditorium on March 26. Moore's
visit, shrouded in controversy over the filmmaker's antiwar statements
during the recent Academy Awards ceremony, drew media coverage
as well as protestors who agreed and disagreed with Moore. In
his talk, the director encouraged audience members to be active
in the political process and defended his Oscar statement, saying
dissent was a crucial part of any democracy. "I don't have
all the answers," said Moore, "but I do have the right
and the responsibility to pose the questions."
