Works by 11 University of Rochester undergraduate students exploring the intersection of gender, identity, and the visual arts will be exhibited. The pieces were chosen by a panel of judges composed of Susan Gustafson, director of the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women's Studies; Joan Saab, professor of art history; and Marjorie Searl, chief curator at the Memorial Art Gallery. Curator for the exhibit is Amy Steed, a student in the University's Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
The students and their works selected for the show out of 33 entries are: Rosie Adams, "When Fathers Misbehave;" Nell Aronoff: Suspended Progress;" Heather Bischoff, "Progressive Nexus—Issue #1: Women's Rights;" Becky Cheung, "What About the Other Girls in the Gap?" Barbie Leung: "I am a Voyeur;" Keith MacLean, "Mom's Big Job;" Chantal McMahon, "You'll Never Know;" Shelley Meyerhoff, "You Can't Take Back What You Learn;" Scott Schultheis, "Tony;" Anna Sokolov, "Preoccupied;" and Shirley Zimmer, "The Martyrdom of Saint Me."
Three Jurors' Choice Awards, in the amount of $150 each, will be presented during the reception on Feb. 21.
