Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine included the University of Rochester in its Top 50 Best Value in Private Colleges ranking for 2009.

Ranked number 33, the University joins a list that praises institutions for offering students comprehensive financial aid packages through scholarships, grants, and federal and state aid.

"Each year it's a new alchemy to balance our investments in quality academic programs with need-based aid plus merit and research grants," said Jonathan Burdick, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University. "We want to enroll an interesting mix of the world's most curious students; by definition they have to come from many economic backgrounds."

In 2008, the University gave more than $60 million in financial aid to its undergraduates and 84 percent of students received some form of aid.
