WHAT: President Joel Seligman will introduce bestselling author, geopolitical expert, and investor, Dan Senor, as the keynote speaker for National Entrepreneurship Week.
TIME, DATE, PLACE: 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, in Gleason Hall, Room 318/418 (third and fourth floors) at the Simon Graduate School of Business on the University of Rochester's River Campus. A book signing will immediately follow the keynote lecture. Both events are free and open to the general public.
PARKING: Complimentary parking will be available in the Trustee Lot, which is accessible by turning right onto Trustee Road from Wilson Boulevard immediately upon entering the River Campus from Elmwood Avenue.
BACKGROUND: Dan Senor, a geopolitical expert, investor, and adjunct senior fellow for Middle East studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, is the co-author of the New York Times best-seller Start-Up Nation: The Story of Israel's Economic Miracle. During his keynote speech commemorating National Entrepreneurship Week, he will address how Israel—a country of 7.1 million people, only sixty years old, surrounded by enemies, in a constant state of war since its founding, with no natural resources—produces more start-up companies than large, peaceful, and stable nations like Japan, China, India, Korea, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Senor completed his MBA at Harvard Business School, studied in Israel, and has traveled extensively throughout the Arab world. He has invested in a number of Israeli and American start-ups, and today is with a New York-based global investment fund. Senor's analytical pieces are frequently published by the Wall Street Journal; he has also written for the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Weekly Standard, and TIME.
