University of Rochester alumnus Richard Rasmussen, Class of 1972, has been awarded the 2007 North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) Alumni Award of Distinction.
The award was presented this week by Psi Upsilon Executive Director Mark Williams at the second annual Fraternity and Sorority Community Achievement Reception at the University. The NIC Award of Distinction is presented annually to individuals and groups for recognition of overall leadership and excellence in the advancement of fraternal ideas.
"Dick has been involved in the University of Rochester fraternity and sorority system for more than 30 years working on a variety of long-term goals," said Monica Miranda-Smalls, director of fraternity and sorority affairs. "He is action-oriented, ethically unimpeachable and constantly, and consistently, generous of his time and resources for the greater good."
Rasmussen currently serves as the Alumni President for the Psi Upsilon Alumni Association of Western New York, is the alumni advisor for the Undergraduate Chapter of Psi Upsilon, and is past president of Psi Upsilon International, serving two terms. He also serves as a member of the University of Rochester Fraternity and Sorority Management Committee, which was recently awarded the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators 2006 Bronze Excellence Award for new initiatives in areas of fraternity and sorority affairs.
