Ronald J. Paprocki, senior vice president for administration and finance at the University of Rochester, was selected as the 2008 Financial Executive of the Year for large nonprofit organizations in the Rochester area.
The annual awards, which were announced yesterday at a luncheon ceremony at the Hyatt Regency, are presented by Rochester Business Journal and the local chapter of Financial Executives International. More than 500 people attended.
An independent panel of judges made the winning selections in four categories, which included large and small nonprofit organizations, and private and publicly held companies.
"Pivotal to our growth and success has been Ron's extraordinary effectiveness in directing and protecting the integrity of our financial and administrative systems," said University President Joel Seligman, in his letter supporting Paprocki's nomination. "He holds a broader portfolio than is common for his counterparts at our peer universities."
Paprocki's working career of nearly 39 years at the University of Rochester began upon his graduation after earning a bachelor's degree with high distinction from the University, and later an MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration.
A native of Rochester, Paprocki has led many budget, planning, and administrative operations, and is currently the University's chief operations officer. He also has a history of expertise in planning, institutional performance measurement, and delivery of cost effective support services.
