Eastman School Hopes Welcome Weekend Becomes Tradition

The Eastman School will kick off the school year with a series of programs and activities called Welcome Weekend designed to engage students, create community, build spirit, and allow students to experience Rochester.

Organizers hope it will create a new fall tradition for the school, much as Yellowjacket Weekend is for the River Campus.

“It is important for students to see how vibrant their campus is, to engage with other students, faculty, and staff, and feel part of the campus community and the Rochester community,”  says Melissia Schmidt, Eastman School’s assistant dean of student life, who proposed the program. Also, the 2012 Clef Notes summer newsletter for new and returning Eastman students is now available. It contains “all things Eastman” and includes information about important dates, departments, auditions, placement exams, faculty appointments, health services, and more.
