MEDIA ADVISORY: Nearly 1,300 freshmen forming the Class of 2019 will move into the University of Rochester’s River Campus

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 25 beginning at 9 a.m.

WHERE: Move In Day begins at Park Lot on the University campus, located just off Elmwood Ave. Vehicles will proceed to various freshman residence halls.

MOVING IN: Freshmen and their parents from all over the country will arrive on the River Campus. They will be serenaded by several University of Rochester musical groups as they proceed from Park Lot to their dorms. Student volunteers will unpack vehicles and bring luggage up to each student’s dorm.

Freshmen will be moving into the Susan B. Anthony Halls and in Gilbert, Hoeing, Lovejoy, and Tiernan Halls in the Residence Quad.

NEW STUDENT EXPO FAIR: From 9 a.m.-4 p.m., students and parents can visit various booths in the Field House at the Goergen Athletic Center, where campus department representatives will answer questions and hand out souvenirs and information packets. The media is invited.

PRESIDENT SPEAKS: President Joel Seligman and Vice President Paul Burgett will be among the speakers welcoming students at a 5 p.m. convocation in the Eastman Quad.

THE CLASS OF 2019: The incoming class comes from 47 states and 83 countries. There is also an incoming transfer class of 150. The undergraduate enrollment for the River Campus is approximately 5,200, and more than 20 percent  are international students.
