First-year medical students Bridget Hughes, Lindsay Wahl, and Sarah Nevarez were praised Thursday by Rochester City rescue personnel and School of Medicine and Dentistry officials for helping rescue two children and their father from the Erie Canal. The students, only in their third official day at the medical school, helped rescue members of the family Wednesday when the man momentarily lost control of the children’s stroller and it rolled down an embankment and dropped into the canal.
