Susan B. Anthony Center joins area organizations in celebrating suffrage centennial

The University of Rochester’s Susan B. Anthony Center, the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House, and the American Association of University Women will launch 2017: Celebrating 100 Years of New York State Women’s Right to Vote this Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Memorial Art Gallery from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

The group will unveil a 2017 calendar of events marking the historic anniversary of women’s suffrage. In addition, local artist Abbe Czajkowski ’99 will unveil and discuss the center’s commemorative poster and greeting cards. Czajkowksi is a mixed-media abstract artist. Inspired by people, nature, and storytelling, she uses rich color and organic forms, resulting in art that’s a confluence of the familiar and the abstract.

Tuesday’s launch will take place at a cocktail reception and presentation in the Bausch and Lomb Parlor Room at the Memorial Art Gallery.

In partnership with the Memorial Art Gallery, the center will discuss a new self-guided art tour to honor the centennial by showcasing women artists and celebrating their contributions to the field of art. The tour was created by Susan B. Anthony Center students to offer women artists’ unique perspectives.
