Tuition for University of Rochester undergraduates in the College and the Eastman School of Music will increase at its lowest rate in more than a decade—3.9 percent, from $42,890 to $44,580 for the 2013-14 academic year.
The combined term bill of tuition, room and board will increase 3.9 percent to $57,644.
“Our first priority is to provide our students with an education of high value, which includes learning from outstanding faculty,” said University President Joel Seligman. “New degree programs, such as audio and music engineering, and digital media studies, add to the cross-disciplinary and professionally relevant experience we offer.
“At the same time, we continue to pursue cost efficiencies wherever we can find them. And we are increasing financial aid, so that a Rochester education will remain accessible to hard-working students who could not otherwise afford it,” said Seligman. For the coming year, the College has increased its commitment to student financial aid by 5.5 percent to $108 million.
At the University’s professional schools, the tuition rates for 2013-14 will be: $46,500 for the School of Medicine and Dentistry, a 4.0 percent increase; $57,750 for the School of Nursing’s three semester accelerated program, a 4 percent increase; $49,100 for the Simon School of Business, a 4 percent increase; and $39,936 for the Warner School of Education, a 3.8 percent increase.
The University Board of Trustees approved the tuition rates for all schools at its March meeting.
