Dear Researcher:
The purpose of this letter is to provide instructions on how to renew your HSPP number.
We have selected an on-line program called the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program). The program was developed as a collaborative effort among various universities and organizations to provide a comprehensive selection of educational modules that can be used to satisfy institutional instructional mandates in the Protection of Human Research Subjects. The University of Miami administers the program.
To access the program from your web browser, go to https://www.citiprogram.org.
Proceed as follows:
This will take you to a page where you will select one of the four learners groups based on your role in the protection of human subjects. The four groups are:
You will receive notification of your pass/fail status by mail. If you pass, this notification will include your HSPP number. This HSPP number will be required on all Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, after January 1, 2001.
After you have selected the appropriate group, you will be linked to the educational modules specifically related to that role. You will need 1.5 to 2 hours to complete the refresher course.
If you successfully complete the course, you will receive an e-mail verification from the University of Miami with an expiration date 3 years from the date you completed the course. Your HSPP number will remain the same as stated above. You do not need to notify our office. We receive a copy of your verification from University of Miami.
Those taking the HSPP biomedical course can request CME or nursing contact hours through the University of Miami. A link is provided if you successfully complete the required modules and obtain at least 70% on the module quizzes.
