  • (8/28/09) Intent To Apply For Federal Stimulus Funding
     
    In an effort to provide Governor Paterson's Stimulus Team with more detailed information on the level of interest in upcoming competitive stimulus programs, we ask that applicants identify the stimulus programs for which they intend to submit one or more proposals. We will use this information in determining which federal stimulus programs should be made eligible for the 10% State Innovation Economy Matching Grant Program.

    By providing basic information on your proposed project, we will be able to have a more informed decision making process and also be able to communicate more quickly to applicants.

  • (8/11/09) Approved New York State Innovation Economy Matching Grants http://www.nystar.state.ny.us/stimulus.htm

    • applicants should apply for a matching grant, even if their particular federal grant has not yet been approved for the matching program. NYSTAR will process applications for each grant as the programs are approved.

  • (7/6/09) The New York State Economic Recovery and Investment Cabinet has announced approval of the following eleven ARRA Program solicitations for matching funds:

    Closing Date - July 13, 2009: The NIST Measurement Science and Engineering Research Grants Program (2009-NIST-ARRA-MSE-Research-01).  Funds are to advance the state of knowledge and practice to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.

    Closing Date - July 14, 2009: The DOE Industrial Energy Efficiency (DE-FOA-0000044).  Funds will support the deployment energy efficient technologies for cogeneration, district energy, waste energy recovery, or efficient industrial equipment.

    Closing Date - July 17, 2009: The National Institutes of Health, Extramural Research Facilities Improvement Program (RFA-RR-09-008).  Funds will support projects to expand, remodel, renovate, or alter biomedical or behavioral research facilities. 

    Closing Date - July 17, 2009: The DOE Enhanced Geothermal Systems Component Research and Development/ Analysis (DE-FOA-0000075).  Funds are to develop new technologies to dramatically improve energy efficiency in information, communication technologies that can be commercialized within 3-5 years. 

    Closing Date - July 21, 2009: The DOE Energy Efficient Information and Communication Technology (DE-FOA-0000107).  Funds will to develop new technologies to dramatically improve energy efficiency in information, communications technology (ICT) with an emphasis on new technologies that can be commercialized within the next three to five years. 

    Closing Date - July 22, 2009: The DOE Geothermal Technologies Program (DE-FOA-0000109).  Funds will focus on areas associated with geothermal energy and seek to maintain an aggressive schedule for project completion as well as the creation and maintenance of jobs. 

    Closing Date - July 22, 2009: The DOE Regional Sequestration Technology Training (DE-FOA-0000080).  Funds for trade groups, companies or others to develop regional sequestration technology training programs for site developers, geologists, engineers and technicians. 

    Closing Date - July 29, 2009: The DOE Wind Energy Consortia between Institutions of Higher Learning and Industry (DE-FOA-0000090).  Funds will support consortia between institutions of higher learning and industry that will perform focused research on critical wind energy challenges. 

    Closing Date - July 30, 2009: The DOE High Penetration Solar Deployment (DE-FOA-0000085).  Funds for modeling tools and database of experience with high penetration scenarios of PV on the electric power system. Also for demonstration the integration of PV and energy storage into Smart Grid applications. 

    Closing Date - July 30, 2009: The DOE Solar Market Transformation (DE-FOA-0000078). Funds will address current market barriers to the adoption of solar technologies and establish a nationally coordinated effort to spread solar installation training to the local level. 

    Closing Date - July 30, 2009: The DOE Enhanced Geothermal Systems Demonstrations (DE-FOA-0000092). Funds will go towards projects that demonstrate techniques to extract heat and energy from geologic formations.

  • (6/24/09) New York State Economic Recovery and Investment Cabinet has announced approval of the following three NIH and one DOE ARRA Program sollicitations for matching funds.
  • NIH, National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) Community Participation in Health Disparities Intervention Research Planning (RFA-MD-09-006) which is due June 30, 2009. Funds will support community-based participatory research to reduce and eliminate disparities in health care.

    NIH NCMHD Dissertation Research Award to Increase Diversity (RFA-MD-09-008) which is due June 30, 2009. Awards will fund life sciences doctoral research that advance the goals of the NCMHD.

    NIH NCMHD Exploratory Centers of Excellence (RFA-MD-09-007) which is due July 1, 2009. Funds are to augment and expand the capacity and infrastructure for research that improves the health of the nation and for preparing the next generation of researchers.

    Department of Energy Demonstration of Integrated Biorefinery Operations which is due June 30, 2009. (DE-FOA-0000096) Funding for this program will support pilot and demonstration scale biorefinery projects.

  • New York State will use the Innovation Economy Matching Grants Program primarily to support ARRA applications to federal agencies in strategic technology areas that have been identified as crucial to the expansion of the State’s economy. Applications will be prioritized from the most promising sectors of New York’s innovation economy: renewable energy, clean tech and smart grid; nanotechnology; stem cell, biomedical and life sciences; advanced manufacturing; broadband; information technology and cyber security.

The Governor’s Economic Recovery and Reinvestment (Stimulus) Cabinet will make every effort to highlight and convey those ARRA solicitations for which the State will consider providing matching funds as solicitations are announced.

All applications submitted to New York for funding under this program must include a description of the project to be undertaken, the potential economic impact the project will have on New York and show a demonstrable tie to New York industry

  • NYS Approves First Stimulus Match Category
    NIH Extramural Research Facilities Improvement Program

    The New York State Economic Recovery and Investment Cabinet is pleased to announce that it has approved its first category of funding.  This approval is for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Extramural Research Facilities Improvement Program due June 17, 2009 (RFA-RR-09-008) .  NIH funding for this Program will provide significant funding to expand life sciences facilities in the state thereby enhancing economic development in this strategically important technology sector. 

    Eligible institutions are encouraged to seek a 10% match from the New York State Innovation Economy Matching Grants Program for this NIH funding.   To apply for a matching fund commitment letter for this program, please go to the New York State Recovery Website.
