UR Coeus

What is UR-Coeus ?

UR-Coeus is the system used for tracking sponsored programs proposals and awards at the University of Rochester. The Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA) licensed Coeus (a grant management application) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1997 and adapted it to the University’s requirements and culture to become "UR-Coeus".

What is Coeus Cognos Reporting?

Coeus proposal and award data is sent to the University’s Data Warehouse nightly. Through the use of IBM Cognos Analytics software, authorized Coeus users have the ability to run a series of canned, preformatted proposal and award reports. These reports provide criteria selection screens that allow the user flexibility to tailor report information to their needs. Reports can be generated as a PDF file or can be saved into other data formats (e.g. CSV, Excel) for further manipulation.

Obtaining Access to Coeus Data and Coeus Cognos Reports

Effective August 2020, the University has implemented a new process for requesting permissions to use or view sponsored programs data. This process will also be used to request user access to Cognos Grants Management Reporting and replaces the form previously found on this page.

The data permission request form, as well as information and FAQ’s about the process, is available through the University’s Data Governance webpage.
