Background on Scholarship
Through a partnership between the Rush-Henrietta School District and the University of Rochester, qualified Rush-Henrietta School District juniors and seniors have the unique opportunity to take credit and non-credit classes tuition free at the University.
The Whipple Scholarship allows R-H juniors and seniors who meet eligibility requirements to participate in the Taste of College program and the Rochester Scholars program. Qualified students may re-apply for the Whipple Scholarship through the end of their senior year of high school.
Organization of Programs
Taste of College allows students the opportunity to earn college credit by taking regular undergraduate courses alongside actual college students! In the Fall and Spring semesters, qualified R-H juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the program. During the summer sessions, Taste of College classes are open to rising juniors and seniors. The initial Whipple Scholarship award covers the full cost of tuition for one class offered during one semester. Upon successful completion of the class, eligible Rush-Henrietta students may re-apply for the Whipple Scholarship and can take up to two classes per semester.

Current Rush-Henrietta high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for a Whipple Scholarship to attend the Rochester Scholars winter or spring sessions. For the summer session of Rochester Scholars, Rush-Henrietta students entering 11th or 12th grade in the fall may apply for a Whipple Scholarship. Whipple Scholarships support up to two Rochester Scholars courses during one session.
