Winter Break Events for YoUR Student

Several off-campus, career-related events occur during January break. Career and Internship Connections (CICs) and Student-Alumni Networking Nights (SANNs) are open to all majors and class years. Both are invaluable for those seeking career focus, contacts, leads, and interviews for internships and their first jobs. Please encourage your student to attend if you live near, or your student hopes to work in, one of the identified cities.

Career and Internship Connections

At these recruiting consortia events, established and managed by the University, employers in New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Los Angeles meet and interview candidates from some of the nation's top undergraduate schools. CICs include prescreened interviews as well as a career fair. Students have received e-mails about these, but your enthusiastic support is appreciated. Find dates, locations, employer and registration information about all five events at: www.rochester.edu/careercenter/students/cic.

Student-Alumni Networking Nights

Conveniently scheduled to occur on the evenings of the CIC events in New York City, Boston and Washington DC, the Student-Alumni Networking Nights provide a comfortable opportunity for students to connect with alumni (and parent) "special advisors" who represent a breadth of career fields, including: banking and finance, public relations, communications, law, government, politics, entrepreneurship, non-profits, and consulting. From these volunteers, students learn about various career paths and gain insight into internship, job search, and graduate school options. Whether your student is confident in a career direction or befuddled by the many possible paths ahead, these events are amazing. These networking receptions are free, but registration is required. Find dates, locations, and registration information at www.rochester.edu/alumnievents. Please note, once registered, your student will receive an annotated biographical list of our special career advisors and a brief networking tutorial. The SANNs are co-hosted by the Career Center and the Office of Alumni Relations.
