In mid-August, a new electrical transformer will be installed underground in the space currently occupied by the Middle Drive Parking Lot. Faculty and staff who park in this lot are currently being contacted by the Parking Office for new lot assignments. Construction is expected to take about nine months. In March ’09, the underground work is expected to temporarily close access to the Annex Tunnel. Exact closure and re-opening dates for the tunnel will be issued as timing draws near.
Once the electrical transformer installation is completed, the area is expected to become the staging ground for the Medical Center’s PRISM facility. The Pediatric Replacement and Imaging Sciences Modernization project is a six-story facility that will house beds for Golisano Children's Hospital, additional adult beds for Strong Memorial, two floors for imaging sciences (radiology), plus an expanded pharmacy and other support space.
