FOOLISH MORTALS: Putting a modern twist on
a Shakespearean classic, Eastman Opera Theatre presented Benjamin Britten’s
opera A Midsummer Night’s Dream last April. Directed by Steven
Daigle, associate professor of opera, and conducted by Benton Hess,
professor of voice, the production was set 20 years in the future after
an apocalyptic event, but the play’s examination of the different
forms of love remained immortal. Coming up this fall, the program plans
to present Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd. |
