VanderZwaag Selected for NCAA Committee

George VanderZwaag, director of athletics and recreation at Rochester, begins a four-year term this fall on an NCAA committee to study policies affecting opportunities for women in collegiate athletics.

VanderZwaag, who has overseen Rochester’s Department of Athletics & Recreation for the past nine years, is one of three representatives from Division III on the 15-member NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics. Other committee members represent Divisions I and II. A student-athlete from each division also serves on the committee.

The group is formally charged with studying and making policy recommendations concerning opportunities for women in athletics at the institutional, conference, and national levels, as well as on other issues affecting women’s athletics.
