HOME TO OMEGA EP: Mason Schleigh, an experimental systems technician at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, maneuvers a piece of equipment known as a “parabola alignment diagnostic” around the target chamber of the lab’s four-beam laser. Part of a suite of technology used to set up experiments, the diagnostic helps optimize the focus of high-powered, short-pulse laser beams, enabling researchers to study matter at extreme temperatures and pressures.
