The Provost’s Annual Book Celebration

4th Annual Celebration of the "Book"
Thursday, May 5, 2011, 3:30 – 5:30 pm
Hawkins-Carlson Room, Rush Rhees Library

The Provost’s Annual Book Celebration is a University-wide event to honor faculty and staff members who have authored a book, or its equivalent, within the past year.

This is a celebration for the University community to publicly acknowledge and honor worthy accomplishments of our faculty and staff members.  Our conception of the “book” is broadly conceived, and includes:

  • edited volumes, texts, and series
  • book-equivalents - such as electronic books
  • published compositions
  • CDs of entire performances.

Not included in the definition are articles, book chapters, or encyclopedia entries.

Honorees are members of the tenured, tenure-track, clinical, adjunct, or part-time faculty, or a staff member who has published a “book” meeting the description above during the preceding year.

Copies of the books are set up at the celebration for book signing and sale, and each author is asked to say a few words about their work.
