Subject: Bridging Fellowships
If you will be forwarding Bridging Fellowship applications for central support, please ensure that they reach my office by January 15.
To qualify for central support, a proposal must be recommended by the dean. The proposal must also meet the standards established for an academic leave as described in Section IV.E of the Faculty Handbook (http://www.rochester.edu/provost/assets/PDFs/Faculty_handbook.pdf). It should include a clear account of what is expected to be achieved and must ultimately benefit the educational programs of the University.
The University does not generally have more than four Bridging Fellows in a given academic year. I am unlikely to approve a Bridging Fellowship for a junior faculty member, especially one who has taken a junior leave.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
