List of selected artifacts from the in-service program (B2)

These documents have been included to further illustrate some of the key activities you read about in Section B.2, and to give you a sense of the outcomes of the program. Choose from the following list any artifact you may be interested in reviewing:

Summer Institute:

First homework assignment (2 pages) -- text of the homework assignment given at the end of the first day of the summer institute

"What does it mean to study a geometric figure mathematically?" (Borasi, 1992) (7 pages) - essay assigned as a reading after the first component of the Tessellation inquiry experience, with the goal of stimulating reflection on the nature and role of mathematical definitions,

Examples of journal entries (3 pages) - selected from the journals participants wrote daily and shared with the rest of the group

Supported field experiences and follow-up meetings:

List of concerns shared at the first follow-up meeting (2 pages) - text of the newsprint compiled as the participants talked about the experience of teaching their first illustrative inquiry unit

Examples of participants' written reflections on their field experiences (5 pages) - written at the conclusion of the program (similar to those included as testimonials in Section A, but written by a different set of participants)
