List of selected artifacts from the pre-service program (B3)

These documents have been included to further illustrate some of the key activities you read about in Section B.3, and to give a sense of the outcomes of the program. Choose from the following list any artifact you may be interested in reviewing:

Methods course:

First homework assignment (1 page) -- text of the assignment given at the end of the first week of the course

Examples of journal entries (5 pages) - selected from the journals participants wrote weekly and shared with the rest of the class

Thought-provoking questions about area (1 page) - questions assigned by the instructor to stimulate reflection about the "math of area" in the context of the Area inquiry experience

List of teaching practices modeled in the Methods course (2 pages) - newsprint summarizing what individual students identified at the end of the course

Examples of pre-service teachers' final reflections (8 pages) - selected from the "What have I learned" papers written by each participant at the end of the course

Follow-up methods course and field experiences:

Brief description of selected units designed by pre-service teachers (1 page) - these "innovative units" were developed by secondary math student teachers to fulfill a student teaching requirement.
