Sharing strategies for using instructional resources effectively
(D7.4)
Facilitator's plan (by Judith Fonzi)
- Prior to showing the video, articulated the task as: "while you
watch this video think about how you can use it / what can
you use it for".
- Show the video.
- Ask for responses to the task, encouraging participants to brainstorm
as many different ideas as possible, making clear that they do not have
to do with teaching the Pythagorean Theorem necessarily.
- After the participants have shared their ideas, report on the
use of the Pytagorean video made in my class (along the lines described
in the narrative of this experience included in the Instructional Materials).
- In order to give participants an opportunity to practice this way of
looking at other instructional resources, place a rich collection of unusual
and interesting instructional materials on several tables and have the
participants break into small groups to peruse the materials at a table
and suggest possible ways to make use of them.
- Small groups share the highlights of their conversations.
