What is RefWorks?

RefWorks takes the work out of managing references and creating a bibliography. RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic manager that provides you with a convenient online place to store and organize references. RefWorks imports citations from online article databases, eliminating the need for typing or keeping long lists of references. RefWorks will even create a bibliography for you in any citation style you require.

Getting Started

Each user must create an individual account with RefWorks. Click here to create an account with RefWorks. If you are off-campus, see the section below titled "Using RefWorks Off-Campus".

Please disable any popup blockers before using RefWorks.

Note: RefWorks works best with Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher

Using RefWorks Off-Campus

RefWorks can be used anywhere. However, if you are off-campus, RefWorks must first identify you as UR student/faculty/staff. To do this, go to the Find Database By Name - RefWorks page on the Libraries' web site. When you click on RefWorks you will be asked to enter your NetID and password to confirm your UR status. You will then be redirected to the RefWorks home page.
