FAQ—Transcript Requests

How do I order transcripts?
Request your transcripts online using your UID and PIN. You may also request transcripts by faxing (585) 275-2190 or mailing your request to the Office of the University Registrar, 127 Lattimore Hall, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY 14627.
Can I email you my transcript request?
No. Your request must include your signature (we consider your UID PIN to be your electronic signature).
I graduated before 1986, can I request a transcript online?
No. Since transcripts prior to 1986 are not maintained online, only mailed or faxed requests can be accommodated. View and print the request form.
What will prevent my transcripts from being sent?
Some holds will prevent transcripts from being sent. You can check to see if you have any holds in my.rochester.edu before requesting transcripts. You will need to contact the appropriate office to have the hold lifted before transcripts can be sent. Once you have had the hold lifted, please contact the Registrar's Office so that your request can be processed. The Registrar's Office will generally keep a transcript request for six months if there is a hold. After that, you will need to make a new request.
How can I have my transcripts held for grades/degree?
The Registrar's Office no longer holds transcripts for grades or degrees. You can check to see if your grades or degree have been posted by checking my.rochester.edu. Once the grades or degree appears in my.rochester.edu, they will appear on the transcript. It generally takes 3-4 weeks for additional information (Latin Honors or Departmental Distinctions) to appear on the transcript.
How long will it take my transcript to be sent?
Transcript processing time is generally 3-5 business days after your request is received. During particularly busy times of the year, such as December - February and May - June, processing time is usually 5 business days. Older records (pre-1986) may also take 5 business days. After a transcript is processed, it is mailed by regular US Mail. Please take this into account when requesting transcripts. We cannot honor same day requests.

Can anyone else pick up my transcript?
If a 3rd party will be picking up the transcript the request must include the name of the person who will pick up the record.  The person picking up the transcript must come to 127 Lattimore Hall and provide a picture ID.  A signed receipt will be required.
Is there any way to get a transcript delivered faster?
Yes, you can request FedEx delivery. For an address within the United States, the cost is $15 and must be paid in advance via credit card (Mastercard, VISA or Discover) to the Bursar's Office. This is a per address charge: two transcripts can be sent to the same address for $15, but two transcripts to two different addresses will cost $15 each. Here are the steps you need to complete:
  1. Request your transcript (indicate you want it to be sent via FedEx)
  2. Contact the Bursar's Office (585-275-3931) to arrange payment
  3. Contact our office once you have sent your payment to the Bursar so we can process your FedEx delivery

Please Note: If you are attempting to send an International FedEx, please contact our office first for a price quote (585) 275-8131. If you have your own FedEx account number, please indicate that on your FedEx request (you will not have to pay the Bursar in this instance). FedEx cannot ship to PO Boxes.
