As a freshman and sophomore, you are required to live on campus unless you have been granted a special exception. If you submit the Application/Contract by the priority deadline, you will have the best choices of University housing. If you miss the priority deadline, we will do everything we can to find you the best space available in as timely a manner as possible.
Special Reminder for current freshmen:
When you entered UR, you signed a two year housing agreement. The College has determined that living on-campus is important to the successful development of UR students.
Residential Life does not anticipate releasing freshmen from the sophomore year of the housing requirement. We will review limited requests that have supporting documentation for financial or medical accommodations.
In order to request a release for financial reasons: meet with someone from Financial Aid: http://enrollment.rochester.edu/financial-aid/contact/
In order to request a release for medical reasons, follow the information provided on this link: https://www.rochester.edu/eoc/resources/forStudents.html
For all students:
Watch for the 2017-2018 Room Selection Newspaper for All Students! This will be available in mid-February, both delivered to your room and found on this website.
All freshmen, as well as a very select group of upperclass resident advisors and other upperclass support students, live in the freshman residence halls. Approximately 1,300 freshmen and upperclass students live in the Susan B. Anthony Halls and in Gilbert, Hoeing, Tiernan, and Lovejoy Halls in the Freshmen Quad. Susan B. Anthony, on the crest of the hill, is bounded by the Rush Rhees Library, Fauver Stadium, the Jackson Court Residence complex, and a natural area. The Quad is bounded by the Goergen Athletic Center on the north, Wilson Commons and the academic quad on the east, the Fraternity Quad on the south, and the Genesee River corridor to the west.
