In honor of the Sesquicentennial, Daniel Harrison, associate professor and chair of the Department of Music on
the River Campus, has composed a Sesquicentennial clock chime that will be played by the Hopeman
Memorial Carillon in the tower of Rush Rhees Library, beginning January 31, 2000.
Called the "Rochester Quarters," the chime marks the passing of quarter hours with a cumulative
melody. At each hour, the chime rings 16 notes plus the hourly strike.
Press the play button to hear the "Rochester Quarters."
