The year 2000 also marks the centennial of co-education at the University of Rochester. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of advocates such as a famed women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony, the University enrolled its first class of women in the fall of 1900.

In addition, the University's School of Medicine and Dentistry is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and the Department of Computer Science is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
