Ways to protect yourself
How to protect yourself and your friends from bad experiences with Drinking, Club Drugs, and Unwanted Sexual Activity
What to watch for...
- Someone who says she was with people she ‘knew’ so she didn’t think she needed to be cautious or watch her drink.
- Someone who says she only drank a little, but became drunk or incapacitated much more quickly than usual.
- Someone who says she was somewhat aware of what was going on, but felt listless or paralyzed and unable to move to stop the incident.
- Someone who says she has no idea how she got from place ‘A’ to place ‘B’.
- Someone who says that when she woke up she found that she didn’t have all of her clothes on.
- Someone who got more physically ill than usual the following day after drinking only a few drinks the night before.
- Someone who was drinking at a club the evening the incident took place.
- Someone who has lost a span of time and can’t remember what happened from time ‘X’ to time ‘Y’.
No matter what it's called...
- Roofies (Roche, $-2, Rib, Rope, Mind Eraser, Forget Pill)
- GHB (G, Liquid X, Liquid E, Scoop, Soap, Gook, Grievous Bodily Harm, Georgia Home Boy, Natural Sleep-500, Easy Lay, Gamma 10, Energy Drink)
- Ecstasy (XTC, X, Adam, Clarity, Lover’s Speed)
- Regardless of whether it’s a mixed drink, a beer, or something that’s been put into your drink . . .
It’s still rape to the victim.
- Need Help?
No one is immune from this problem.
- Have fun and keep a clear head. If you choose to drink, drink responsibly and don’t use club drugs.
- Trust your friends when they tell you it’s time to go home with them, no matter how much fun you are having.
- Even though you may be interested in getting to know someone better, do it when you have a clear head and can make decisions to keep yourself safe.
Date Rape is an equal opportunity problem. It can happen to anyone.
