Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb Program
(December 18, 2007)
Beginning this week, the Facilities Management team will be out in the buildings with Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLBs) to replace the incandescent bulbs staff and faculty offices.
The compact fluorescent bulbs use 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and come in various wattages and configurations. They are a direct replacement for incandescent bulbs, delivering an incandescent-like light, match your existing light output, and fitting into incandescent fixtures. A CFLB lasts up to 13x longer than incandescent bulbs and use significantly less energy. Replacement of your incandescent bulbs will reduce energy cost by about $52 per bulb over the life of the bulb.
In fall 2007, Residential Life provided each freshman and returning student with a compact flouresent light bulb for their rooms.
Please help the University be an environmentally friendly place by participating in this program.
