 OVERVIEW

The Tibetan Innovation Challenge is an intercollegiate social entrepreneurship business plan contest, organized by the University of Rochester, aiming to improve the lives of Tibetans living in refugee camps in India through self-sustaining and replicable business ideas.

2016 Judges:

  • Lobsang Nyandak, Executive Director of the Tibet Fund and Trustee to the Dalai Lama Trust based in the United States
  • Song Pak, SVP of Operations & Acting General Counsel, Revolution LLC; General Counsel & Chief Compliance Office, Revolution Growth
  • More TBA

Read the judges’ biographies.

An altruistic competition, student participants agree to assign full ownership rights to all elements of their plans to Tibetan refugees. All submitted plans will be considered for implementation in Tibetan refugee camps.

None of this could happen without the generous support of our sponsors.

The names of the sponsorship levels are borrowed from the Four Dignities of the Warrior’s Path in Tibetan Buddhism. Each of these four animals: the dragon, the tiger, the snow lion, and the garuda (a large mythical bird) represents certain qualities associated with an enlightened warrior. Each also corresponds with a cardinal direction and a classical element. These symbols are commonly seen on Tibetan prayer flags.
