Willis

Lisa K. Willis, Ph.D., CGP

Dr. Lisa K. Willis received her Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rochester, graduating magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and as a member of Keidians Honor Society. During her undergraduate years, she also studied voice at the Eastman School of Music. After graduation, Lisa worked at the Mt. Hope Family Center conducting research with maltreated adolescents. She later returned to the U of R and received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University Counseling Center, she joined the faculty as a Staff Psychologist. Dr. Willis is currently the Director of the UCC.

Dr. Willis specializes in the treatment of survivors of childhood maltreatment and victims of abuse/assault. She has also developed an expertise in working with individuals struggling with gender and sexual identity questions as well as transgender clients making a transition in their gender identity. She is also skilled in working with concerns regarding sexual dysfunction and sexual addiction. Other clinical interests include exploring interpersonal processes in psychodynamic psychotherapy and power dynamics in relationships. Special populations which interest Dr. Willis are artist, musicians and medical personnel. She highly values her role teaching and mentoring professionals in training, consulting with staff from student activities offices within the University community, and working closely with the University Health Service. Dr. Willis is currently teaching a psychotherapy practicum and a supervision seminar. Additionally, she maintains a small private practice.
