To Apply:
- Complete the APPIC Application for Psychology Internship Form (AAPI) online - www.appic.org and submit it to us by November 13th. Paper applications will not be considered.
- For an application to be complete, it needs to include the following:
- A cover letter, in which you explain why the University of Rochester UCC internship program is a good fit for you and your goals.
- CV.
- Graduate transcript(s).
- Three letters of reference, at least two of which should be from clinical supervisors. If you have a fourth letter that you feel adds a unique perspective, you can include it but we only require three.
Interviews
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by email. We believe that a face-to-face interview may be beneficial in arriving at a mutual decision about selection. If it is not possible to interview in person, a phone interview will be set up instead. Candidates who are invited to interview will also be invited to submit a sample of their psychotherapy work. This can be in the form of an audio or video recording of an actual client. If that cannot be provided, then a role play of a therapy session with a friend or colleague may be substituted. If you choose a role play, please ask a friend/colleague to play an actual problem they might be experiencing. Do not make up a scenario (i.e., your colleague pretends to play an 18 year old college freshman failing a course). It tends to come across as insincere and does not allow for a natural flow in the session. Make sure your recording is clear and audible. Do not send recordings that are difficult to hear.
For a candidate's dossier to be complete, some work sample, whether actual or role play, is a requirement. The interview period will be in January.
