Research Opportunities
As faculty in the University's Department of Psychiatry, UCC full-time staff are active in scholarship relevant to the agency. Some current research projects include: group psychotherapy and parallel process, suicide, and time-limited treatment. Research is recognized as being an important part of a professional psychologist's role, but we believe that training as a scholar should not come at the expense of practitioner training during the predoctoral internship year. Moreover, we can best support research that is a by-product of clinical work and is integrated with the provision of services. UCC is itself a "research ready" agency collecting a significant amount of data on all clients seen, and making it possible to create interesting creative research projects. If an intern is interested in doing research within a college mental health setting, he or she should explore this with the Director of Training. Time for research must be specifically requested; it is not automatically provided.
Please send questions about the technical structure/operation to the UCC Web Master
