About the UHS Health Promotion Office
The UHS Health Promotion Office emphasizes awareness of current health issues, prevention of disease and illness, and promotion of health and wellness. The primary goal of the Health Promotion Office is to provide opportunities for members of the University of Rochester community to develop health-promoting skills and attitudes necessary to make responsible decisions about personal health and health care.
The UHS Health Promotion Office offers the following programs & services for students:
- Educational programs and workshops.
- Web-based health assessments and BASICS, a confidential alcohol assessment provided in two sessions with the UHS Health Educator. For more information, contact Nancy Reynolds at nreynolds@uhs.rochester.edu.
- Written information, including the Monthly InSTALLment addressing different health topics each month, posted in bathroom stalls, free brochures, fact sheets on a wide variety of health topics, and links to reputable health-related web sites on the UHS web site.
- Free condoms and brochures.
- Opportunities for students to get involved through the Peer Health Advocacy class (HLS 216/217), the UR Student Health Advisory Committee (URSHAC), collaborating to plan health programs and events, and taking an independent study course.

Our Office Location
The UHS Health Promotion Office is located on the second floor of the new University Health Service Building on the River Campus. The Health Promotion Office is open weekdays throughout the year. Stop by and visit!

Linda specializes in helping students learn about the services available through UHS. She is the advisor for the UR Student Health Advisory Committee (URSHAC), works with students on independent study projects, and provides leadership and guidance to the staff of HPO. Linda is also the conference planner for the New York State College Health Association.

Arlita helps plan the annual wellness fair for Feel Fabulous in February, maintains UHS's inventory of health education brochures, and oversees the day-to-day operation of the office.

Nancy joined the UHS Health Promotion Office in 1999. Her area of expertise is alcohol & other drugs. She works closely with staff in the Dean of Students Office, the University Counseling Center, and Residential Life. She teaches the Peer Health Advocacy course (HLS 216/217) and coordinates the Social Host Training Program.
