  • Appointments with UHS primary care providers to learn how alcohol use is affecting your health.
  • Information on how the substances you use interact with alcohol.
  • Help with quitting or cutting down on tobacco use.

Payment:   The cost of visits to UHS is covered by the mandatory health fee paid by full-time students. For other patients, visits are on a fee-for-service basis.

  • Non-judgmental information about alcohol and other drugs, your own personal risk factors, and how to help a friend.
  • BASICS, a confidential personal assessment provided in two sessions with our Health Educator, can be scheduled by calling the office at 273-5772.
  • Web-based personal assessments (e-CHUG and E-TOKE) on the UHS web site.
  • Social host training for groups and individuals. Call 273-5775 to schedule.
  • Educational programs and workshops are available by request.
  • Free brochures on a wide variety of substances.

  • Risk Reduction Plus Team - provides outreach and case management services geared to support HIV-infected individuals with substance abuse problems and/or substance abusers at risk for HIV infection
  • Cocaine Program - intensive, week-long programs and specialized groups that focus on the specific addiction/recovery process associated with cocaine
  • Relapse Prevention Program - intensive, short-term group focuses upon relapse triggers, development of a relapse prevention plan, and identification of sober supports - associated with a relapse-focused aftercare group

  • The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope, in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.
  • Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization, or institution; does not engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through its own voluntary contributions.
  • Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.

Mission Statement: SOS is a non-religious support group for people who want to help each other live free from alcohol and drugs. We are an alternative to self-help groups that emphasize religious or spiritual beliefs.
Services:
  • Anonymous meetings focused on achieving/maintaining sobriety and other alcohol-related concerns - open to anyone affected by substance abuse
  • Opportunity to discuss sobriety in a non-religious/non-spiritual manor - offers an alternative to many traditional alcohol agencies such as AA or NA
  • Does not discourage members from simultaneously attending other groups such as AA or NA.

Smart and Sober

Purpose: This is a website dedicated to help youth stay sober; this site provides testimonies from youth who have been involved with alcohol, as well as information for teens that need help with a drinking problem.
