UR Communications Updates – April 29, 2016
Illness on Campus – April 9, 2016

Previous Updates from UR Communications April 26, April 25, April 22, April 20

Students, staff, and faculty received an e-mail message from UR Communications today with information about students experiencing the sudden onset of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Click here to read the message sent by UR Communications. Norovirus infection is a possible explanation for the illness. Washing hands with soap and water frequently is an important way to avoid acquiring this type of infection. Facilities staff are intensifying their cleaning procedures in order to reduce the spread of the virus. Check the CDC web site for prevention information. Click here for the letter was sent to UR faculty.

Full-time students participate in the Student Health Program, which covers primary care visits to the University Health Service (UHS), time-limited therapy at the University Counseling Center (UCC), and health promotion services. Employees and other members of the University community can choose a UHS physician as their primary care provider and come to UHS for their personal health care. UHS also provides occupational health care services for employees. All visits to UHS are confidential.

UHS has offices on the River Campus, in the Medical Center, and at the Eastman School of Music.

The mission of the University Health Service is to improve the health and safety of University of Rochester students and staff. As part of an academic institution, UHS also participates in the education and research missions of the University.
