University Health Service (UHS)
Occupational Health Care
The University Health Service Occupational Health Program works to improve the health and safety of the University community. Certain programs are mandated by Federal and State agencies and the University of Rochester to ensure that operations do not have an adverse effect on students and staff.
Occupational Health programs include:
- Pre-placement health assessments and annual health updates for selected staff and health profession student groups.
- OSHA mandated hearing conservation program.
- Exposure assessment to bloodborne pathogens and other infectious diseases.
- Research or program specific health monitoring, i.e. biosafety labs, Vivarium.
- Evaluation of possible work related allergies such as latex or hand rashes.
- Care for work-related injuries such as sprains, falls (can be evaluated whether or not you are a UHS primary care patient).
- Blood pressure monitoring for University staff.
- First aid care for employees who become ill while at work.
- Determination of absence to prevent contagion or job task reassignment for staff with infectious diseases.
