Health Insurance Selection Process

Health insurance is required for all full-time students. Each year, all matriculated full-time students must complete the on-line Health Insurance Selection Process regardless of their insurance coverage. If you do not have your own health insurance, you must enroll in the UR-sponsored Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance. The UR-sponsored coverage can be waived if you have equivalent coverage through another health insurance plan.
The on-line Health Insurance Selection Process is now ready for the 2008-09 year. You will need your UR Net ID and password to complete the Health Insurance Selection Process. Students beginning full-time studies in the summer and continuing full-time in the fall must complete the 2007-08 process for the summer months and the 2008-09 process for academic year, which begins on September 1, 2008.

- Enter your UR Net ID and password.
- Select your insurance option.
- Hit "Continue" at the bottom of the screen.
- Enter information in the fields noted with an *.
- The system will confirm your insurance selection.
If you are waiving the UR-sponsored insurance, have your insurance card handy in order to provide the required information. You should find the information about your insurance company on your insurance card.
Suggested Dates for Completing the Health Insurance Selection Process
Students should complete the Health Insurance Selection Process prior to the start of classes. For undergraduate students, completing the process by June 30 will assure correct billing on the first tuition bill the student receives. For graduate students and medical students, completing the form by August 31 is recommended. Incoming first year medical students should complete the selection process by July 31. (The recommended date for students beginning in May is April 15. For students beginning in January, the recommended date for completing the selection process is December 15.)
Changing Your Insurance Selection
If you should need to change your insurance option during the year, you can re-enter the Health Insurance Selection Process to make the change. Any change you make during the year will take effect on the first of the month after you have submitted the change on-line. You will be charged a pro-rated fee based on the number of months of coverage. The fee will be charged to your tuition bill.
