Health Insurance for the
Accelerated Bachelor's Program

As a full-time student at the University of Rochester, you participate in the comprehensive student health plan offered by the University Health Service (UHS). The health plan includes the mandatory health fee and health insurance.

Your coverage will include:

• Mandatory Health Fee — This fee is paid by all full-time students. The fee covers the cost of visits to the University Health Service (UHS) and the University Counseling Center (UCC).
• Health Insurance — In addition to the mandatory health fee, all full-time students must have health insurance. You can enroll in the University-sponsored health insurance, or you can remain on your own insurance.

Selecting Health Insurance:

Each year all full-time students must complete the online Health Insurance Enrollment/Waiver Process to select their insurance for the academic year. Students who have their own insurance coverage can waive the University-sponsored insurance. The link to the online insurance process is located in the pink box on the UHS home page. Click on the "For 2011-2012" link.

If you are beginning studies in May 2011:

If you are enrolling in the University-sponsored Aetna Student Health Insurance plan, you must complete the Health Insurance Enrollment Form by Friday, April 1, 2011. The cost is $520 for May 1-August 31, 2011. You must also pay the mandatory health fee, which is $184 for May 1-August 31. These charges will appear on your tuition billing statement. If you have your own insurance and want to waive the University-sponsored insurance, you must complete the Health Insurance Waiver Form. This form must be submitted by Friday, April 1, 2011. You must pay the mandatory health fee, which is $184 for May 1-August 31. This fee will appear on your tuition billing statement.

About the University-sponsored health insurance:

The University-sponsored insurance plan is offered by Aetna Student Health. The plan includes prescription coverage (with a $250 deductible and tiered co-payments after the deductible has been met) and expanded coverage for services received outside the Rochester area.
