BCBS Insurance for Students with a Spouse
    /Domestic Partner (and no children)

A two-person contract is available for students who want to enroll their spouse/domestic partner in the BCBS insurance for individual students. Married students without children will find enrolling in the two-person BCBS contract to be less expensive than enrolling in a family insurance plan. The student must be enrolled in the insurance plan for the spouse to be eligible.

With this option, the student and spouse each pay the fee for the BCBS insurance and the mandatory health fee. The spouse receives the same insurance benefits as the student, as well as the same coverage by the mandatory health fee (i.e., visits to the University Health Service and time-limited therapy University Counseling Center.)

Health Fees for 9/1/09 - 8/31/10
  Student Spouse/Domestic Partner* Student +

BCBS Insurance $1,152 $1,152 $2,304
Mandatory Health Fee $576 $576 $1,152

* A domestic partner is a person living with the student as a domestic partner with whom the student cannot legally marry, e.g., partner of the same sex. Check Insurance for Domestic Partners on this web site for eligibility guidelines for domestic partners.

Completing the Health Insurance Selection Process

Students must select their insurance option by completing the on-line Health Insurance Selection Process before the start of classes every year.
