The Community Fund at Work
The Community Fund supports over 60 agencies and 90 programs in the community that focus on five priority areas identified across the community.
- overcoming crisis
- preventing violence
- fostering student success
- sheltering the homeless
- assisting those with disabilities and helping seniors stay independent

It supports student readiness and success, resources for families in crisis and helps individuals achieve independence.

What Your Gift Can Do
When you choose to give your money to United Way’s Community Fund, change happens for children, parents, elderly and those in crisis situations. Your gift makes a great impact in a real way to people all over Rochester.
Your 50¢ a week donation...
- Provides budgeting and tax preparation assistance to one low-income household
- Pays transportation costs for one child to get to an urgent care facility
- Buys two blankets to be distributed to homeless youth during the winter
Your $1 a week donation...
- Provides a week of food in an emergency homeless shelter
- Provide one day of safe, supervised care for a child during a day off from school.
- Feeds a low-income adult hot lunches for one week
Your $10 a week donation...
- Provides an inner-city teen with academic support and social development in a healthy and supervised environment
- Allows an at-risk mom to attend 12 weeks of Incredible Years parenting classes
- Pays for five senior community shopping, lunch or worship service outings
- Will turn on utilities and connect telephones in two apartments for formerly homeless families
Your $20 a week donation...
- Sponsors six months of home visitation for an at-risk mom in the Building Healthy Children program
- Allows an urban child to attend a full summer of day camp where they can learn new skills, make friends and create memories that last a lifetime
- Buys five wheelchairs
