Information for Warner Students
Domain/Email Accounts and Use of Information Technology

If you are not a Warner School student, information on email can be found at the University IT email site.

The Warner School information technology resources are provided so Warner students can efficiently pursue their degrees and careers. The Warner School email accounts, email lists, computers and printers are for use only by Warner Students for school and career related activities.

As a professional educator, your use of Warner School resources should be based on the Graduate Studies Regulations, the University of Rochester IT security policies, and common sense. By using University of Rochester technology resources you are agreeing to abide by these policies.

Soon after you are accepted into the Warner School, you will be provided with a domain account to access network resources and an email alias - this account is separate from your network ID account you used to register for classes. Your domain account user name will be your first.last name and your email alias will be firstname.lastname@warner.rochester.edu.

The use of this service (the Warner School Email address) should conform to University Standards and Policies as identified by http://www.rochester.edu/its/security/policy. All other use is strictly prohibited.

You have two choices on how to direct email sent to your Warner email account.

Option 1:
This is automatic for new students and you do not need to sign up or submit any online preferences unless you are updating the email address submitted on your student application.

All email you will receive as a Warner School student will be set up to forward to the email address you used when you applied to the Warner School. Because the school will be using this email address for important information related to your course work and degree, it is your responsibility to make sure this mailbox will accept attachments and is secure. If you need to change this email address for any reason you can do so by submitting a request at: http://www.rochester.edu/warner/it/

Option 2:
The second option is for to have an actual mailbox on the University of Rochester exchange email server. You can check your exchange mail either through a web browser or an email client such as Microsoft Outlook. If you choose option 2, you should plan to check this mailbox daily for important messages. A mailbox on the University of Rochester exchange has a storage limit of 25 MB so it is important that you save attachments to your computer and then remove them from your mailbox. Once you graduate or leave the program, your mailbox and contents will be deleted.
